Abdulkerim AYDINDAĞ


ABDULKERIM AYDINDAG is graduated from Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Engineering, and Department of Geological Engineering and had his master’s degree at the same university. He started his career as a Geological Engineer in a private company in 2000, after that he worked as an Instructor at Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University between 2005 and 2008. In 2008, he was appointed as a Geological Engineer to the Department of Mineral Research and Exploration in the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA).

From 2008 to 2019, he worked as a project manager in many different projects at MTA. Following his duty as the Coordinator in the Industrial Raw Materials Coordinatorship under the Mineral Research and Exploration Department, he was appointed to the MTA Environmental Research Department as the Head of the Department in 2017.

After all administrative duties, he was appointed as the Head of Natural Stone Department of the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) in 2019. Aydindag, who was appointed as the Deputy Director-General of MTA in April 2021, continues this duty today.

Aydindag, who has been involved in more than 30 projects mainly on industrial raw materials, natural stone, marble and marble waste since 2008, prepared 27 exploration reports, various articles, catchment-based project reports and many important publications. In addition to these, he had a role to create and make ready for service the web-based Natural Stone Information System and the Turkey Earthsciences and Core Information Bank that has strategic importance for our country’s mining development. Aydindag, who is a member of the Critical and Strategic Raw Materials Commission of Turkey, played a role in the publication of the commission report.

Aydindag gave many seminars, attended courses and received various certificates and awards in his professional working life. In addition, he plays an active role in non-governmental organizations as a member of MMG (Architectural Engineers Group) and Strategic Environmental Research Association, and as President of MTA Youth and Sports Club Association.

He has been a “Competent Person” as defined by the UMREK Code since 2020 and was appointed as a member of the UMREK Committee in 2021. Abdulkerim AYDINDAG, who has an intermediate level of English, is married with one child.
